Classic Ballet Classes

TOTAL: 101Hours

I am now finished with my ballet classes and I passed on to 4th level which is two steps away from being in the Ballet of Zulia company. I feel I did really well in my presentations which were the 14 and 15th of July. For this presentation I was "la leyenda del Danubio" which means the leyend of a river called Danubio. The theme of this presentation was like an enchanted library and it was called "El Maravilloso Mundo de la Lectura". Different levels had different groups which represented a variety of books and the story is about a little girl who didnt want to read and she started experiencing how wonderful books and reading can be so she watches the different groups dance representing what happens in each of the books that she reads. And at the end she enjoys reading and learned her lesson about books being interesting to read. This was a great presentation and I love ballet so I am going to continue to take ballet clases next year and hopefully in a couple of years I´ll be dancing with the company.

EBV SUMMER SCHOOL CAMP

TOTAL: 80hours
As a CAS activity I decided to take the lead role in Summer School at EBV and guied the kids into a fun summer camp. The purpose of this activity was to help the summer school teachers with about 40 students who signed up for the EBV summer school program in different areas such as PE, Reading/writting, computers and math. I was one of the leaders of group one which included children from prekinder kinder and ones who are going to first grade this next school year. Basically Giuliana and I had the younger children whom I believe required much more care than the other groups since they were the smallest children and they were a big group of 15kids. We had two field trips one was to the Heladeria Argentina (ice cream factory) where we were able to observe how different ice creams were made plus the ingredients they used in order to make them. The second field trip was to a farm where we could observe the pigs and the children played games inside the pool and ate hamburgers. We also had sport days and movie days and the children made cupcakes one day so they were really entertained all the time. This activity can be categorized into the three areas of CAS since we had to get involved in everything happening in the summer school program. I believe summer school was great and the most amazing part was to connect with the kids because they were the cutest part of summer school and they learned how to get along with each other and love us(the guides). I definitely believe this was a great experience and it expanded myself in ways I didn't know I could grow. I recommend the juniors to help out in summer school next year since Ms. Rivas and the teachers need a lot of help in taking care of the kids and it is an amazing chance to get to know the little ones in our school. An advice I would give to the juniors is why waste an opportunity of experiencing with little kids and having fun in their world plus you get 80hours of CAS which is obviously needed in order to graduate.

Supply Drive Propaganda

TOTAL: 6 Hours

I made posters and flyers along with my friend Giuliana for the end of the year Supply Drive. The Supply drive for the refugees here in Maracaibo and EBV has done it for a couple of years. The purpose is to help, donate, collaborate with the people who are in need for any sort of supplies. I decided to take lead in creating flyers and poster to share with the school in order to advertise the supply drive so people can bring items. We created a two flyers to put in each high school class, one for school related supplies and the other one for clothes, toys items. The flyers looked like this:
We made ten posters in order to hang around the school and they looked like this:
This was a good experienced and with this I learned how to apply my creativity skills for a good cause such as this supply drive ads. There are people bringing in supplies and hopefully by the end of this school year we will have enough supplies in order to donate to the refugees.

Classic Ballet Classes

June 11, 2012
TOTAL(second entry): 84 Hours

I am still taking ballet classes and I´m constantly improving in areas such as batterie, rhythem, pointes, shoulders and back. According to my second exam which was on April the 30th, 2012, I need to work on my pirouettes, port de bras, head, and flexibility. I scored AA on my second exam as well which is the same as 100%. I feel Im doing a pretty good job on improving and I still have one exam to pass in order to proceed to the next level. Hopefully I will be successful and score AA like I am used to score in my exams. I have my ballet presentation comming up soon on the 15 and 16 of July in Teatro Bellas Artes, which I have been preparing for ever since febuary. I plan to continue to attend  ballet for the rest of the ballet training year.

SOFTBALL VANAS AT VALENCIA

TOTAL:10hours

As a CAS activity I participated in Vanas Softball tournament at Valencia. The purpose of this activity was to compete against other teams in the softball tournament. I can say that we had the best team in the tournament because we won all of the games against ECA and CICV but unfortunately we lost the final game against Valencia 12-9. Although we lost the final game I believe that we are the champions because we were the team that had more victories than losses. This activity would be classified as action since I was playing softball in the tournament. If I were to go back to that Vanas tournament we would of been more focused on the final game instead of winning the rest of the games because since we were just 3 teams, even if we lost a game we could go to the finals.

BBQ RING TOSS GAME

TOTAL:1hour 30minutes

As a CAS activity I participated in the Back to School BBQ at Escuela Bella Vista in supervising the Ring toss game. The purpose for this activity was in order for the elementary kids and guests to enjoy a simple but entertaining game of ring tossing. With the help of another classmate that was in duty for this period of time, we had the ring toss game set and we waited for the kids to show up to have a nice time playing. Both of us decided which lines from the basketball court we should use depending on the grade in which the kid was in.

While one of us was giving the rings to the kid who was playing the other one maked sure that the rings would go to far away from the game and if they did to grab them. As kids started to show up I realized that this game was actually entertaining even thought the inflabables were the center of attention for the kids. The outcomes of this games were that it helped me and my classmates to develop a skill of leadership because we are being the leaders of the game or running the game by ourselves. If I were to do this game again I would try buying candies or a treat in order for the ones who actually throw 2 or more rings in the holes can get a treat.
